Alex Cameron leads the Laboratory Automation business for BD Integrated Diagnostic Solutions. In this role, he serves as the general manger for a technology-driven product line consisting of complex hardware and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven software that is transforming the way clinical laboratories operate.
Cameron has been a part of the BD team for three years. During his tenure, the Lab Automation business has undergone consistent growth enabled by the launch of new technologies and adoption of new go-to-market models. His oversight extends across multiple business functions and sees him spending significant time at our innovation and manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands and with customers across the world.
An innovative and globally experienced leader, Cameron has built a successful track record at both life sciences start-ups and large corporations. He previously was responsible for the diagnostics business at Zimmer Biomet after that company acquired CD Diagnostics, an orthopedics diagnostics start-up at which he was an early employee. During that time, Cameron led R&D and corporate strategy teams that launched leading-edge products and completed a series of M&A and licensing deals. Prior to that, he held a series of technical roles at start-ups operating in the pharmaceutical services space.
Cameron holds a BS from Dickinson College, MS from Johns Hopkins University, and MBA from The Wharton School. He lives with his family in the Baltimore area.
