The National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps program is an immersive entrepreneurial training experience designed for researchers, faculty, students, and community entrepreneurs. Participants explore real-world market needs through customer discovery, gaining the tools to turn their innovations into viable businesses.

Mentoring Opportunity

Becoming a Johns Hopkins I-Corps program mentor is a unique opportunity to give back to the innovation ecosystem and support the next wave of technology leaders. Mentors work closely with teams as they refine ideas and explore market fit, offering guidance drawn from their professional experience and expertise. To ensure high-impact, personalized support, mentors typically only work with one to three teams at a time.

Eligibility/Requirements

JHTV is seeking mentors who are:

  • Enthusiastic about giving back and supporting innovation
  • Skilled communicators and thoughtful advisors
  • Respected professionals with relevant industry experience
  • Constructive, curious, and open-minded
  • Willing and able to commit ~15 hours over a 4-week program

Preferred experience includes:

  • Startup or entrepreneurial venture
  • Leadership role or mentoring experience
  • Prior participation in I-Corps (not required, but a plus)

Industry Focus

Mentors with experience in the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:

  • Software/SaaS, electronics, and computing
  • Healthcare and medical devices
