HEXCITE: Excited for Healthcare
A medical software pre-accelerator startup generator program for entrepreneurs.
Care providers with an idea who are eager to drive change within their practice are matched with business, design, and technical team members to work together in creating a software solution that will improve patient care. Weekly, expert-led sessions help teams navigate the first steps of business and technical design using the Lean Start-up methodology which focuses on growing a business with maximum acceleration.
Following the 16-weeks of inventive programming and mentorship, Hexcite teams are prepared to build their technology with JHTV, conduct an internal pilot at Johns Hopkins, and launch a Baltimore start-up.
Ideal Candidates
- Clinical Leads: Clinical faculty or staff from JHM or its affiliates
- Business Lead: JHU administrators, local entrepreneurs & graduate students majoring in business
- Design Leads: Undergraduate or graduate students in design-related majors
- Technical Product Leads: Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in computer science, electrical & computer engineering, data science, or information systems
Participation Requirements
- In-person Friday afternoon sessions (Must be able to attend local sessions in Baltimore)
- Available for virtual Friday afternoon sessions Can commit 10-20+ hours per week
- Have clinical or entrepreneurial start-up experience
Dates and Deadlines
- Clinical Applications Open: September 4
- Clinical Applications Close: September 27
- Non-Clinical Applications Open: October 7
- Non-Clinical Applications Close: October 25
- Hexcite Matching Event: December 13
- Program Begins: January 24, 2025
Cost
- Clinical Leads: $1,800 (May be covered by department or other means)
- Business, Design and Technical Leads: Free
