HEXCITE: Igniting Innovation in Healthcare
HEXCITE (Healthcare Excited) is the center of healthcare innovation at Johns Hopkins, designed to empower entrepreneurial thinkers in the healthcare field to transform ideas into impactful digital health solutions.

WHAT IS HEXCITE?

HEXCITE brings together passionate clinical, business, design, and technical talent to develop digital health solutions addressing problems in patient care and the healthcare system. Over 16 weeks of dynamic programming, participants engage in expert-led sessions to rapidly validate ideas and develop solutions objectively satisfying the identified needs.

By the program’s end, teams are prepared to:

  • Partner with Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures to further build their solutions
  • Conduct internal pilots at Johns Hopkins
  • Launch thriving start-ups in Baltimore’s vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

HEXCITE is seeking motivated individuals ready to make an impact:

  • Clinical Leads: Clinical faculty or staff from Johns Hopkins Medicine or its affiliates
  • Business Leads: Johns Hopkins administrators, local entrepreneurs, or graduate students majoring in business
  • Design Leads: Undergraduate or graduate students with experience in design-related fields or majors
  • Technical Product Leads: Undergraduate or graduate students in computer science, electrical and computer engineering, data science, or information systems.

PROGRAM COMMITMENTS

Participants must meet the following requirements:

  • Attend in-person Friday afternoon sessions in Baltimore
  • Dedicate 10-20+ hours per week to the program
  • Bring clinical or entrepreneurial start-up experience to the table

  • Hexcite 2025 Launch: January 24, 2025
  • Hexcite 2025 Final Event: May 2, 2025
  • Hexcite 2026 Application Open: August – September 2025 (TBD)
  • Hexcite 2026 Team Matching: November – December 2025 (TBD)

PROGRAM COSTS

  • Clinical Leads: $1,800 (Financial support may be available through departments or other sources)
  • Business, Design, and Technical Leads: Free participation
