Why Material Tracking Matters During a Faculty Transition
When faculty move to a new institution, we track any research materials that transfer with them. The goal is simple: keep research moving without disruption while clearly documenting what leaves and what stays at Johns Hopkins.
This helps ensure ongoing projects continue, sponsor and collaborator commitments are honored and students are supported. It also allows Johns Hopkins to maintain accurate records of university-owned materials and equipment and to ensure all transfers comply with university policy, sponsor, and collaborator requirements as well as federal regulations including those related to human subjects, animal research, and export controls.
In short: we support a smooth transition while protecting the integrity and accountability of the research.
