You are invited to a presentation on “What Makes a Good Biotech Company” by our very own Hopkins graduate, Albert Hwang (A&S ’93). He is looking forward to fielding questions and offering advice to JHTV staff and Commercialization Academy Fellows as well as any FastForward startups and translational funding grantees. The presentation will include: 1) Life Sciences market overview including key players and sub-sectors; 2) Financing biotech companies; 3) Requirements for an IPO; and 4) the M&A market and big pharma.

Dr. Albert Hwang joined Morgan Stanley in 2015. He has over 20 years of investment banking experience and is responsible for the Healthcare Group’s East Coast Biotechnology practice. He joined Morgan Stanley from Bank of America Merrill Lynch in 2015 where he worked for 13 years, and was named managing director in 2009.

Albert’s experience centers around advisory work in mergers and acquisitions and in capital raising in the biotechnology and specialty pharmaceuticals sectors. You can check out notable transactions he supported in his attached bio. He has advised clients on over $125bn in M&A transactions and raised over $50bn in financings for biopharma clients. Albert has a BS in chemistry from the Johns Hopkins University and an MD/MBA from the University of Chicago.
