Please join us for the inaugural Emmett T. Cunningham, Jr., M., Ph.D., M.P.H., Distinguished Endowed Lectureship in Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Emmett T. Cunningham, Jr., M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., (KSAS’83, Med ’86, BSPH ’91) is a Senior Managing Director in the Blackstone Life Sciences group, having joined Blackstone as part of its acquisition of Clarus in December of 2018 where Dr. Cunningham started as a Principal in 2006. He has led investments in the medical technology, and biotechnology space including partnerships with pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Cunningham received an M.D. and M.P.H. in epidemiology and statistics from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) for work done at The Salk Institute.

This year’s speaker will be Isaac Kinde, MD, PhD, Vice President of Technology Assessment and Co-founder of Thrive, an Exact Sciences Company, where he is commercializing tests for the earlier detection of cancer from a simple blood draw. Attendees will learn how science changes from bench to business, and why it is important that Thrive is in Baltimore rather than Silicon Valley or Boston.
