RECOGNITION
Every year, JHTV honors its staff members with the R. Keith Baker Award, a tribute to the memory of a beloved colleague at JHTV for 13 years. At the time of his death, Keith was Senior Director of Licensing, a dedicated husband and, father of three. This award celebrates his remarkable contributions and enduring legacy. In 2025, several JHTV teams volunteered with Movable Feast, supporting its mission to prepare and deliver nutritious meals and services to individuals living with serious illness. Also pictured, our staff wearing pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month—reflecting a shared commitment to showing up for our community in meaningful ways.
“We Run on Innovation” set the pace at the summer's 2025 Corporate Fun Run, where JHTV turned out in record numbers to run the 5K together—and crossed the finish line with a few top prizes to show for it.
In Spring 2025, JHTV staff attend the Celebration of Innovation in Medicine, honoring Johns Hopkins School of Medicine innovators whose work is shaping what’s next in healthcare.
JHTV headed to the 2025 AUTM Annual Meeting in San Diego—connecting with tech transfer peers from across the country, swapping insights, and yes, having a whale of a good time along the way.
JHTV knows how to do the 2024 holidays right—from Halloween costume contests and spooky trivia to Thanksgiving potlucks and festive holiday parties.
In June 2024, we headed to Camden Yards to cheer on our Baltimore Oriole's - Go O's, hon!
In May 2024, some staff participated in a 5k fun run at Johns Hopkins. Our very own Liz Burger won 3rd fastest female - go Liz!
In April 2024, as a part of recognizing JHTV's 10th anniversary, we held a "Celebration of Innovation" to honor our Johns Hopkins innovators. JHTV staff cleaned up nice and enjoyed a wonderful evening!
In March 2024, we held our all-staff training at the beautiful Peabody Conservatory. We heard from professor Carl DuPont who taught us about maximizing our vocal potential. At lunch we enjoyed a tour of its magnificent library.
Monument City Brewing helped us host our 2023 Holiday party complete with festive sweaters and a performance from the JHTV band. Happy Holidays from JHTV!
JHTV participated in Adopt-A-Family by providing a local family everything on their holiday wish list. We are honored to give back to our community and bring joy during the holidays.
Our IP Managers used ChatGPT as a learning exercise for us all in their poetry circle presentation of “Winter Poems: An Anthology,” to illustrate the importance of the prompts you provide AI. *snaps* *snaps* *snaps*
JHTV's Thanksgiving Potluck is a long honored tradition that has been going on for 20+ years!
In Oct., the JHTV team had tons of spooky spirit for Halloween 2023!
In Aug. 2023, JHTV participated in a community clean up in East Baltimore. We are proud to work in such a charmed city!
In July 2023, we held our annual company picnic. Eager Park was full of games, dancing, fun, and of course food.

In May 2023, we celebrated our first World Day for Cultural Diversity by inviting staff to bring their cultures and traditions into the office. Staff brought in dishes to share, showed their roots through their clothes, and discussed their families' origin stories.
We put the POW in power vests at JHTV! After our March 2023 training session, team members led a "coordinated" effort to bring that training back to the office.
In Feb. 2023, JHTV team members visited Austin, TX for the annual AUTM annual meeting that features 90+ educational workshops, roundtable discussions...AND a donkey named Willie Nelson!
Our outing in Jan. 2023 was a tour of the Baltimore Museum of Art's exhibit "A Movement in Every Direction: Legacies of the Great Migration" which displayed the stories of the Great Migration through several mediums and even included a recreated double wide trailer that served as a candy store by day and juke joint by night.
We were thrilled to bring back our annual holiday party in Dec. 2022 with bad sweaters & an appearance from the JHTV band. We also brought back our annual Thanksgiving potluck. Check out our recaps on our YouTube channel!
A fun Halloween celebration in Oct. 2022 included two Tech Transfer villains: The Infringer & Patent Troll!
After an all-day staff training in Sept. 2022, JHTV enjoyed some hearty laughs with a mini-version of Shark Tank.
The WHOLE JHTV team gathered in front of 1812 Ashland during our summer picnic in June 2022.
We gathered and celebrated a successful year at Eager Park in June 2022. The afternoon was full of good eats, dancing and lawn games.
We are all East Balitmore.
We believe in giving back to the community. JHTV staff donated school supplies and financial support to young students in East Baltimore. Also featured are staff that volunteered in recent years at the Ulman Foundation to make dinner for cancer patients and their families.
The FastForward crew had a blast duckpin bowling in spring 2022.
In Apr. 2022, JHTV held our all-staff training led by our Marketing and Communications team that included a "Presentation on Presentations."
Our first in-person all staff training since 2020. The Pava Center hosted us as we learned how to present using storytelling, listened to an update from UpSurge Baltimore, and heard from several current student ventures.
Our annual Thanksgiving potluck is the highlight of the year. JHTV is home to a lot of amazing cooks and bakers!

One beautiful summer day in 2019, JHTV chartered a Spirit Cruise and took in the Baltimore Inner Harbor.

Student Opportunities
JHTV promotes career exploration and skill building for Johns Hopkins students interested in careers in commercialization. The Commercialization Academy fellowship is a paid, competitive, two-year experience that provides full-time students the opportunity to learn technology transfer processes and receive extensive career exploration information and guidance.
