Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures (JHTV), in collaboration with The Johns Hopkins University’s Office of the President, is launching an annual award to recognize an exceptional early-to-mid career faculty member who demonstrates a commitment to the translation of scientific discovery to the world via commercialization.
The President’s Innovation Award will provide funding at the critical stage in an academic career when the pursuit of funding can drive priorities. It is designed to give the annual recipient the flexibility and freedom to pursue experiments and technology development critical for commercialization and broad societal benefit.
One award of $250,000 will be made each year. This award is made possible by an anonymous philanthropic gift and the commitment of Johns Hopkins leadership to the application of knowledge for the world. It builds on the continuum of translational funding that Johns Hopkins Technology Ventures offers, and it is unique in that it does not require specific technology development plans, and it is an investment in an investigator’s future body of work.
Nominations for the 2023–2024 cycle are due Nov. 27. A selection committee will be comprised of university leaders and external reviewers. The recipient of the inaugural award will be announced next spring.
For details about the nomination process, visit the JHTV website and refer to the university announcement.
