The Social Innovation Lab (SIL) at the Johns Hopkins University accelerates emerging ventures and leaders to change Baltimore and the world.
SIL supports innovative early-stage, mission-driven ventures (both for-profit and non-profit) and disruptive technologies to create change and opportunity in Baltimore and beyond. Our primary activity is our flagship six-month Accelerator program, through which we provide Baltimore-area social entrepreneurs – including but not limited to Johns Hopkins faculty, students, and staff – the funding, mentorship, office space, and training they need to develop into thriving, sustainable ventures that make a measurable impact.
On an enduring mission to enhance our impact and deepen connections within Baltimore communities, SIL has supported 103 startups, helping them raise millions in funding and impact the lives of thousands of people.
Our bespoke Impact Bootcamps are held annually with both JHU partners and Baltimore-area ecosystem members to help entrepreneurs gain or enhance the skills essential for launching and leading a social venture. We are always open to conversations with new partners about how we can deliver value to your organizations and communities.
SIL began as a student organization. Learn more about our impact since those early days.
