DESCRIPTION:2022 Theme: Green Economies\nThere’s an ongoing debate about whether the pursuit of economic growth is at odds with sustainability. Due to the profit-driven nature of certain industries\, the day-to-day goods and services are manufactured by unsustainable practices. Economic growth ultimately requires energy\, but the fossil fuels reserves are finite and climate change is making extreme weather events the new norm. Meanwhile\, the new era of blockchain technology demands even more energy inputs\, posing further strain on the environment. \n In this year’s hackathon\, we encourage everyone to reflect on the meaning of sustainable development and seek to propose ways to avoid compromises between economic growth and the environment. \nThe hackathon will take place October 14-16\, 2022.  All undergrad and graduate students are encouraged to participate for the chance to win $1\,500+ in prizes. No coding necessary.  \nABOUT GREENHACKS \nGreenHacks seeks to offer a platform for competitive ideation and creativity to spark innovative and sustainable solution design. Through the hackathon format\, we bring together forward-looking students\, JHU faculty members\, sustainability organizations\, and companies into one space for the purposes of interaction and collaboration in order to: \n\nAccelerate the conversation regarding innovative sustainable solutions.\nConnect people at the intersection of different fields including design\, software development\, business\, engineering\, science\, and policy.\nEncourage creative-thinking\, collaboration\, networking\, personal development\, innovation\, and invention.\nDesign and pitch innovative green technologies\, business proposals\, initiatives\, solutions\, etc.
